GPS2PowerTrack Plugin - Manual
'Edit activity' Actions

These actions are available in the "Daily Activity" view
and the "Reports" view
of
SportTracks.
When you select one or many activities, only those actions are displayed that are applicable to the selected
activities.
Calculate
Power Track
Only displayed when: one of the selected activities has a GPS track but no power track
yet.

When you use weather data for power calculation (see settings page GPS2PowerTrack
- Power) and the activity does not yet contain weather information, the action automatically tries to find weather
information.
This action may run for a longer time, especially when it has to find weather information. You can abort the action at any
time or cancel it when it has finished.
After this action has finished, you can go to the "Power" activity detail page and have a look at the calculated power
track.

Error messages: are displayed when:
- the activity does not use an equipment item for which you have configured the bike settings and tire settings (see
settings page GPS2PowerTrack - Power).
- you have not yet configured your body heigth and your body weight in the"Athlete" View
.

Clear Power Track
Only displayed when: one of the selected activities has a power track.

This action runs very fast. It can neither be aborted nor cancelled.
Find
Weather Information
Only displayed when: one of the selected activities has a GPS track but no weather
readings.

This action may run for a longer time. You can abort the action at any time or cancel it when it has finished.
Why does this action read data from more than one weather station? It uses all weather stations in the vicinity of your
activity and averages the readings of all stations. The average is weighted, i.e. the closer a weather station is to your
current point, the higher its influence on the resulting weather readings.
When your internet collection is slow, you should reduce the number of weather stations by disabling or deleting them on the
GPS2PowerTrack - Weather settings page.
After this action has finished, you can go to the Weather
Information activity detail page and have a look at the weather conditions during your workout.
Clear Weather Information
Only displayed when: one of the selected activities has stored weather readings.

This action runs very fast. It can neither be aborted nor cancelled.
Find Weather Stations
Only displayed when: one of the selected activities has a GPS track.
When the progress bar has reached 100%, the top status line 1 tells you if the action has found
any new weather stations.
Well known weather stations are flagged with a gray background in
the weather station list 2.
You can delete weather stations (select a line and press "Del") and you can edit the comment.
You must select the proper time zone 3 for these weather stations,
before you can leave this dialog with "OK". Why? Wunderground weather stations report weather data in local time. GPS data
are in
UTC time. Hence you must tell the plugin the time zone so that it can map local times to UTC
correctly.
The plugin tries to guess proper time zones and offers you a smart selection. If the item list in the time zone combo box
does not contain the corrrect time zone, you can check the "show all time zones" box 4 to get a
choice of all known time zones.

Settings Pages
GPS2PowerTrack -
Power

The "Power Calculation Parameters" panel provides three switches to:
- select if weather information ( i.e. wind and temperature) shall be considered when
calculating power
- select if the plugin shall calculate the calories spent during the workout and save them
in the activity
- select a clipping value for calculated power to prevent spikes that can be caused by fuzzy
input data
Use the two tables in the "Equipment" panel to configure power-related parameters of your equipment.
The drop down lists for the "Bike" and "Tire" columns contain all the equipment that you have configured for the current
logbook in the "Equipment" view
of SportTracks. The
drop down lists for "Bike Type", "Riding Position" and "Brand and Model" contain pre-configured choices that are built into
the application and should fit for most purposes.
However, you can add your own parameter set to adapt the power calculation to your particular equipment that might not be
listed in the out-of-the-box configuration. To do this, add a custom equipment configuration
file. An example config file comes with the delivery package of this plugin. See the comments in this file to learn
how to use it (you should not be shy when it comes to physics!).
The area below the "Tire" table tells you, if the custom config file is loaded flawlessly and how many individual entries it
contains.

GPS2PowerTrack - Weather

The "Weather stations" panel lists all weather stations that you have found with the Find Weather Stations action.
Weather stations are stored in the SportTracks config file. Hence, they are shared across all your logbooks.
You can enable and disable individual stations by setting checkmarks in column "In Use".
The table can be sorted by any column - simply click on the column header.
You can delete weather stations by selecting a row and pressing "Del".
The symbol in the last column tells you, if this is a "personal weather station" or an "airport weather station". Clicking on
the icon opens a browser window with today's weather data for this weather station.
Manually Add Weather Stations
There's a button "Add Weather Station" on the upper right corner of the settings page. Use this button, when you want to
manually add a wunderground weather station with well known data.
There are tooltips für every input field which provide guidance.
Note: this is not the way of choice for
adding weather stations. Use the Find Weather
Stations action in any normal situation.
